The IRS will begin accepting and processing 2021 tax returns starting Jan. 24, 2022.
The IRS cannot issue refunds for returns that involve the earned income tax credit or additional child tax credit before mid-February, although taxpayers claiming those credits may file their returns as early as Jan. 24.
